How the Problem of Evil uncloaks Christianity’s total moral bankruptcy
Martin Wagner, freethoughtblogs.com
I don’t think Christians are evil. But the Christian God is evil, and belief in him runs the risk of non-evil people embracing evil through lazy moral and intellectual concessions to things that do not deserve to be conceded. And the Problem of Ev…

The problem of evil will not be solved. Every attempt to do so makes religion and religionists look worse than before.
To even try to explain away child rape (yep, the person being responded to in the post I’m sharing is trying to justify God allowing child rape to happen) shows just how vile these beliefs are.

Every now and then I like to go and feature a motorcycle that’s a little out of the ordinary, partly to keep everyone on their toes and partly because it’s kind of interesting to see what’s happening in other parts of the motorcycle world. This bik…

William Lane Craig came to speak today about “Theism, Atheism and the Big Bang”. I feel like every point he made felt dubious, but seeing as how he partially introduced me to the teleological argument and the cosmological argument and he’s well studied in philosophy and some cosmology/astronomy and he’s more and he’s a good debater and rhetorician so fuck it i don’t know I guess you win this round WLC.

You do know that the teleological and the cosmological arguments are both nonsense right? Just look up any discussion on the topic where an actual rational thinker participated and you’ll see what I mean.
For example, Christopher Hitchens completely smashed these arguments in his debate with WLC back in 2009. It’s just pathetic that WLC is still using those weak arguments as “proof” of the existence of his god.Check out this thread at Philosophy Forums for more in-depth analysis.

Dear Discovery Channel,
Following the most recent school shooting, and the long line of similar shootings in various countries in the past decades, don’t you think it’s time for you to stop glorifying weapons and weapons culture by airing shows like “Sons of Guns”, “American Guns” and “Future Weapons”?
Think about it.

Are they ever shooting it at other human beings? No. Are they ever encouraging people to go out and kill school children? No. So stop blaming these people who have no part in the shootings because that’s like blaming your pencil for you failing your test. Yes it’s a tragedy that all these people’s lives were lost. They all had a future ahead of them and that was taken away by someone who obviously felt he had nothing to lose. We shouldn’t let people get to a level where they feel that this is their only way out, or feel that it’s okay to go out and kill innocent people. We should try to help them before they feel that low. Who do you think the children’s parents were more mad at: the gun that killed them or the person that killed them? Guns don’t kill people. People kill people.

That the answer is “no” to your three initial questions does not matter. They’re still promoting a highly unhealthy weapons culture, propagating the idea that weapons are fantastically cool and essential for everyone to own.
It’s not at all like blaming the pencil for failing a test.
It’s laughable that you end your statement with the most overused pro gun cliché ever.
